No. 16 Ragin' Cajuns Shutout Mean Green Softball

The Mean Green falls to 24-30 overall and 9-14 in the Sun Belt, while ULL improves to 36-10 overall and 14-2 in the conference.
Donna Bourgeois pitched a one-hit shutout in the first game. She struck out nine Mean Green batters in six innings of work. Lana Bowers gave ULL a 3-0 lead with a home run in the third inning. ULL added three more runs in the fourth, aided by a Mean Green error. Vanessa Soto ended the game on a run-rule with a bases-loaded double that scored two runs.
The Ragin’ Cajuns outhit the Mean Green, 8-1, in the first game. Katya Muller posted NT’s lone hit.
Ashley Brignac picked up the win for ULL in the second game. She also pitched a one-hitter against the Mean Green. She struck out 13 in five innings of work.
ULL jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning of the second game. All three runs were unearned. The Ragin’ Cajuns used a six-run fourth inning to seal the five-inning run rule victory. Soto knocked in three runs in the inning with a bases-loaded triple.
Kristina Fowler posted the Mean Green’s lone hit. ULL outhit the Mean Green, 5-1, in the nightcap.
