Softball Faces No. 16 Ragin' Cajuns In Mid-Week Series

Lafayette, La.(4/23/08) - The North Texas softball team faces No. 16 Louisiana-Lafayette in a mid-week conference series on Wednesday afternoon at CajunsSoftball Park. Due to poor weather conditons, the doubleheader has been moved back to 6 p.m..
The Mean Green (24-28) has lost its last four conference series. With its 9-12 record in the Sun Belt, the Mean Green needs just one more conference win to tie last year's record. ULL is 34-10 overall and 12-2 in the conference.
North Texas was swept last year in the conference series versus ULL, but the Mean Green defeated the Ragin' Cajuns in the conference tournament. NT handed ULL its first loss in the conference tournament.
As a team, North Texas is hitting .291, which is second in the conference behind ULL. The Ragin' Cajuns are hitting .318 as a team. Mallory Cantler is leading the Mean Green with a .380 batting average. She has already set a single-season school record for doubles and is ranked in the top five in hits and RBI. The Mean Green has five players that are hitting above .300 and three are freshman. NT's all-time hit leader, Katya Muller, is just below .300 at .294. She is the only Mean Green player this season to have started all 52 games.
