DENTON, Texas (4/30/08) - The North Texas softball team hosts its final home game of the season tonight against Texas-Arlington at 6 pm at Lovelace Stadium.
The Mean Green (24-31) is looking to snap a four-game losing streak, which ties its longest losing stretch of the season. NT split a doubleheader with UTA on March 26 in Arlington.
North Texas posted a 13-9 home record at Lovelace Stadium this season. After tonight, the Mean Green will not play another game until the Sun Belt Conference Tournament, beginning on May 7 in Troy, Alabama.
The Mean Green finished its conference season with a 9-15 record after being swept by No. 16 Louisiana-Lafayette. NT is currently in seventh place in the conference, but that could change depending the outcome of this weekend's games.
The 2008 team has set a number of single-season team records and is close to setting or tying a few more before the end of the season. NT has set records this season in wins (24), runs (233), doubles (75), RBI (202) and total bases (616). The Mean Green needs nine more hits to set the hit record (428) and six more home runs to break 44.
