Softball Signee Caps Senior Season With State Championship

DENTON, Texas (6/10/08) North Texas softball signee Lyndi Samuelson capped a stellar senior season at Aledo High School with a state championship and a No. 1 national ranking.
Samuelson and the Aledo Ladycats won the Class 4A State Title on Saturday, May 31 with a 15-inning, 4-0 victory against Nederland. The senior shortstop led her team to a 6-0 win against Waco Midway in the semifinals with two hits, two RBI and a run scored. In addition to their first state championship, the Ladycats (38-1-1) currently hold the top spot in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association/USA Today Top 25 poll.
Samuelson also picked up a number of individual accolades. She was named to the UIL state softball all-tournament team and received 4A all-state honors. She also received academic all-state recognition.
