Mean Green Softball Plays Jaguars Tonight

DENTON, Texas (3/13/09) The North Texas softball team takes to the road for the first time in almost a month when the Mean Green takes on South Alabama on Friday and Saturday in Mobile, Ala.
The Mean Green (12-10, 1-2) is starting its second conference series of the season after going 1-2 against ULM last weekend. South Alabama as 12-12-1 and is opening its conference season against the Mean Green.
North Texas finished up its home stand with an 8-7 record, including two tournament titles. The Mean Green picked up wins against Iowa State, Wichita State and Kansas.
Despite having to give up the ease of being at home, junior Rebecca Waters is excited to go on the road.
“I love traveling,” said Waters. “I like seeing all the different cities. And it’s a great bonding experience with the girls on the team.”
Waters is tied for third on the team with 18 hits and is tied for first with six doubles. She posted her second home run of the season last weekend against ULM.
The junior utility player is hoping that the Mean Green can put everything together; offense, defense and pitching, for this weekend’s series against the Jaguars.
North Texas starts play on Friday, March 13 at 6 pm at Jaguar Field and finishes up with a doubleheader at 12 pm on Saturday. The games were moved up because of poor weather conditions.
