Hogans Sets Career High As Mean Green Falls

HUNTSVILLE, Texas- North Texas fell to Sam Houston State 94-74 at Johnson Coliseum, giving the Mean Green their first loss to an unranked team this season. Kedrick Hogans set a career high in a second consecutive game, scoring 19.
The Mean Green fall to 7-2 on the season, while Sam Houston improves to 5-2.
The Bearkats jumped out to an early lead, leading by as much as 14 in the first half, but the Mean Green cut the lead down to eight by the end of the first half, to go into the break down 44-36. Hogans kept the Mean Green in the game with 10 first half points.
Sam Houston played the last 9:22 of the game with North Texas in the double bonus, which allowed the Mean Green to shoot 21 second-half free throws. The Mean Green cut the Bearkat lead to six points during the second half, but could not climb closer.
Hogans' 19 points set a new career high, surpassing the mark of 17 he set at Texas Southern on December 4. Hogans has scored in double digits five times this season. George Odufuwa scored 10 points, giving him double figures for the fifth time in six games.
The Mean Green had an efficient night distributing the ball, as they set a season-high with 21 assists, the first time North Texas had 20 or more helpers since February 15, 2010. Odufuwa tied a career high with five assists, and Josh White tied Furmia Nealy for fifth place all-time at North Texas in career assists. Dominique Johnson had a five assist game for the seventh time in eight games.
