DENTON, Texas (4/22/10) -- North Texas softball head coach T.J. Hubbard announced junior college transfer Maddelyn Fraley has signed a National Letter of Intent during the regular signing period and will join the Mean Green as a junior for the 2011 season. Fraley joins Jordan Terry, Kailee Carr, Darian Blake and Jackie Miller who all signed during the early signing period as incoming freshmen for next year.
Fraley, a first baseman, is a sophomore at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M in Miami, Okla. The Lady Norse are currently ranked No. 19 in the NJCAA national poll with a 34-12 overall record. As a freshman, Fraley hit .455 with 17 home runs and 63 RBI. She broke the school record for most doubles in a single season with 21. The first baseman finished 14th in the NJCAA rankings for home runs in 2009 and was named Region II First Team at designated player.
“We are very fortunate to add Maddelyn to our 2010 signing class,” said Hubbard. “She brings two years of collegiate experience to a lineup that will be loaded with experienced returners from this season. She has the ability to drive in a lot of runs, hit for a high average, provide depth at first base as well as increase our lineup’s long ball potential.”
Fraley was a four-year letterwinner at Adair High School in Adair, Okla. She was a part of a state championship, two regional championships and four district championships in her tenure at Adair. She was named all-state in 2007 and left Adair as the career record holder in hits, doubles, home runs, RBI, total bases and batting average. She also set single-season records in home runs, total bases, RBI, batting average and on-base percentage.
The 2010 North Texas softball team is off to its best start in school history with a 23-14 overall record. The Mean Green hosts WKU in Sun Belt Conference action this weekend.
