Mean Green Softball Ranked 15th Nationally In Home Runs

DENTON, Texas (4/6/10) - The NCAA released its latest national rankings for softball, and the Mean Green is 15th in home runs per game.
For games through April 4th, the North Texas softball team is ranked 15th among division I schools in home runs per game (1.26). The Mean Green has hit 34 home runs this season, including five this past weekend. North Texas is also ranked 34th in slugging percentage (.461) and 90th in batting average (.276).
Individually, Lisa Johnson is ranked 73rd in home runs per game (.26) and 48th in slugging percentage (.734). She leads the Mean Green with seven home runs. She is also ranked 36th in walks and 96th in the toughest to strikeout category.The sophomore leads the team with 19 walks and a .495 on-base percentage.
Mariza Martinez is ranked 48th in doubles per game (.33). She leads the team with nine and was named the Sun Belt Conference player of the week after leading the team offense this past weekend against FIU.
The Mean Green is 15-12 this season and faces Baylor on Wednesday, April 7 at Getterman Stadium in Waco, Texas. The doubleheader starts at 4 p.m.
