No. 12 Sooners Take Down Mean Green, 6-1

DENTON, Texas (5/6/10) - Keilani Ricketts held the Mean Green to one run off two hits to lead the No. 12 Oklahoma softball team to a 6-1 victory against North Texas on Thursday night at Lovelace Stadium.
The Sooners improve to 40-10 overall, while the Mean Green falls to 27-18. OU holds a 17-0 advantage in the series against North Texas.
Mariza Martinez tied the game at 1-1 in the third inning with an RBI triple, but the OU offense scored three runs in the fifth to retake the lead for good.
Ricketts pitched a complete game, allowing one earned run off two hits. She struck out 11 Mean Green batters and improved to 25-8 in the circle. Ashley Lail (12-8) took the loss. She allowed four runs off seven hits in six innings of work.
OU took a 1-0 lead in the second inning after loading the bases. Dobbs singled to the shortstop, scoring Ricketts from third.
Amber Miller drew a walk to start off the third for the Mean Green. With two outs on the scoreboard, Martinez posted a triple down the right field line. Miller scored from first to tie the game.
Ricketts knocked in two of OU's three runs with a double in the fifth inning as the Sooners regained the lead. OU capped the win with two unearned runs in the seventh, aided by two Mean Green errors.
Ricketts did not allow a Mean Green batter to reach base in the last four innings of the game.
North Texas concludes its regular season with a 27-18 record. The 27 wins ties a school record for victories in a single season. The Mean Green awaits the seeding of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament, set to be held May 12-15 in Mobile, AL.
