DENTON, Texas - Senior Ashley Kirk, junior Madison Thompson and sophomore Karly Williams each earned Conference USA academic medals for achieving at least a 3.75 cumulative GPA.

The softball stars were three of 37 total Mean Green athletes to receive the award.

North Texas is set to host cross-town rival UT Arlington at 6 p.m. on Wednesday at Lovelace Stadium. The Mean Green is 11-5 all-time against the Mavericks, including a split of the teams' two games last season.

NT is coming off a road sweep of Marshall, giving the team a 27-15 overall record. The team took sole possession of second place in C-USA ahead of UAB and just behind Tulsa.
