DENTON – The name Kelli Schkade is familiar in North Texas softball circles. Schkade, a three-year letterwinner for the Mean Green, recently completed her playing career as one of the greatest players in the history of the softball program.
The Albany, Texas, native was a two-time Conference USA First-Team selection and an NFCA All-South region selection in her tenure.
Additionally, Schkade is the program leader in stolen bases (50), while ranking in the top five in career runs scored, on-base percentage, batting average, triples, multi-hit games and slugging percentage.
Her impact didn't stop on the field as she graduated with a 3.88 grade-point average while majoring in kinesiology with a biology minor. She was selected to C-USA's All-Academic team in each of her three seasons, while also being named a 2017 CoSIDA Academic All-American, the first in program history.
Schkade also received the 2016 Spring Spirit of Service award from C-USA for her efforts in the community of Denton and her hometown of Albany.
