Divers Post Season-High Scores at Phill Hansel Invite

HOUSTON – The North Texas diving team put up strong results all weekend long at the Phill Hansel Invitational, the Mean Green placed 11 as a team throughout the whole invite while only competing divers.

"We had solid performances all weekend and the team now has experience competing at a large invite," diving coach Mark Murdock said. "After a little break, they will all be recharged and feeling strong as we head into winter training."

Day one saw the Mean Green competing in the One-Meter event. Junior captain Meghan Miller led the way earning a spot in the A-Final where she placed ninth overall with a score of 241.50. Freshman Saylor Hawkins and sophomore Altaira Wallquist both found themselves in the B-Final. Hawkins placed 16th overall with a score of 227.70 and Wallquist placed 19th with a score of 220.95.

"We had a strong first day of competing," Murdock said. "Altaira and Saylor both had good performances to make it into the B-Final and Meghan did a great job leading the way into the A-Final."

Day two's three-meter event saw two North Texas divers in the B-Final. Wallquist led the way placing 18th overall with a score of 231.55 and senior Gaby Silva posted a season-best 231.55 to finish 20th overall.

The platform event saw Miller find her way into her second A-Final of the weekend where she placed 11th overall with a score of 182.90. Three divers competed in the B-Final with Wallquist taking 18th with a score of 169.95, freshman Brigid Krbec posted a career-best score of 167.05 to place 20th and Hawkins placed 21st with a score of 159.

The divers will join forces with the swimmers on Dec. 7 when the Mean Green host TCU for a dual meet at the Pohl Recreation Center.
