DALLAS - For the second-straight week, sophomore pitcher Hope Trautwein was named the Conference USA Pitcher of the Week, this time for her performance in the Baylor Invitational. Trautwein was named to the all-tournament team after leading North Texas to two wins and striking out five against Baylor.Â
Trautwein shined against No. 10 Louisiana in a 5-1 win, tossing a complete game while allowing just one earned run on three hits. She pitched in the championship game against Kent State, allowing no runs in a run-rule victory. She averaged a 1.94 ERA across 18 innings on the weekend as North Texas took home the Baylor Invitational championship.Â
"It was a gutsy performance this weekend for her," pitching coach Jamie Allred said. "Very happy for her. She had a tougher day on day one, and it was really impressive the way she bounced back across the rest of the weekend."
The Pflugerville native has thrown 51.1 innings in 2019, striking out 54, allowing just 12 runs, seven of which were earned.Â
