2/12/2020 3:26:00 PM | Men's Basketball
DENTON — The North Texas men's basketball team, which has a one-game lead on WKU in the Conference USA standings for first place, hosts Charlotte at 7 p.m. on Thursday presented by First United Bank. Also during Thursday's game, UNT is partnering with the Mike Slive Foundation to host Block Cancer Initiative.
The 49ers (14-9, 8-4 C-USA) are also in the top five of the league standings and in position to be in the top pod headed into Conference USA Bonus Play.
Thursday's game will be broadcasted on ESPN 3 and the Mean Green Sports Network (95.3 KHYI), which can also be found on the tuneIN app.
After ending its eight-game winning streak on Feb. 1 at Rice, UNT (16-9, 10-2 C-USA) swept its road swing last week with wins at Middle Tennessee and then UAB. The Mean Green own the league's top road conference record at 5-2 and are just one of two teams in C-USA with a above .500 conference road winning percentage. Thursday, they return home where they're on a eight-game winning streak and haven't lost a conference game all year. Meanwhile, the 49ers, who UNT beat last year in Charlotte, come to Denton having won just one road conference game so far this season.
However, Charlotte has won its last two games at the Super Pit and has beaten them seven times in their 11 total meetings.

A win on Thursday would secure the Mean Green's third straight winning season.
