UNT Golf Holding Steady in Desert

PALM DESERT, Calif. – The North Texas men's golf team was led by junior Viktor Forslund and redshirt junior Kristof Ulenaers, who each shot a 1-under-par 71 on Saturday, and the Mean Green sit in fifth entering Sunday's final round of the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate at the Classic Club.
Forslund had three birdies on a day when the players faced a considerable 20-mph or more wind over the final two holes. Ulenaers had three birdies and an eagle on the day, while freshman Hiroki Miya shot an even-par 72. Forslund enters the final round on Sunday tied for sixth on the individual leaderboard at 4-under par, and Ulenaers is tied for 16th at 2-under.
"The wind picked up to 20 mph-plus our last two holes," UNT coach Brad Stracke said. "I was proud of how the team finished and played today."
The Mean Green, who are 1-under for the tournament, will be paired with Denver and TCU on Sunday.
