Trautwein Tabbed C-USA Pitcher of the Week

DALLAS – Following another impressive week in the 2020 campaign, junior Hope Trautwein was named Conference USA's Pitcher of the Week for the second consecutive time, the league office announced Monday.

The honor is already the third for Trautwein only four weeks into the season and matches the total she earned in all of 2019.

During the past week, Trautwein posted a perfect 3-0 record over 22.1 innings pitched in five appearances. The righty registered 34 strikeouts to bring her season total to 101, a Conference USA best, and run her career total to 438, she sits just 10 strikeouts away from passing Kristina Fowler (2005-2008) for second all-time in career strikeouts at North Texas.

Trautwein's biggest moment of the week came on February 29 when she came out of the bullpen to give up no runs and no hits and earn the save in North Texas 4-3 win over No. 5 Oklahoma in Norman.

The Pflugerville native currently holds the fourth-lowest ERA (1.46), second-lowest opposing batting average (.170) and most wins (9) across all Conference USA pitchers.

North Texas will kick off Conference USA play with a three-game set against UTSA (12-8, 0-0 CUSA) in San Antonio beginning Friday March 6. The Mean Green will return home for their first home Conference series on March 13-15 when they host Western Kentucky, tickets for that and all other home games are available through the North Texas Ticket Office.
