Softball Inks Graduate Transfer from Texas

DENTON – North Texas softball coach Rodney DeLong officially announced the signing of former Texas outfielder Tuesday DerMargosian to join the Mean Green as a graduate transfer for the 2020-21 academic year.

DerMargosian posted 49 hits and scored 56 runs during her time in Austin while making 165 appearances for the Longhorns, which included 58 starts while posting just one error during her collegiate career. The Fort Worth native started a career high 26 games both as a freshman and sophomore for the Longhorns, while posting a career best .333 batting average as a junior while scoring a career-high 19 runs.

Before her time at Texas, DerMargosian was a three-sport athlete (softball, basketball and volleyball) and high school teammate of current North Texas utility player Tarah Hilton at Northwest high school in Justin. She was a 2014 team captain and was honored as both a 2015 Dallas-Fort Worth All-Metroplex First Team and All-District 5-6A First Team selection, a 2016 Collin Street Bakery/Texas Sports Writers Association (TXSWA) All-State 6A choice and honorable mention selection in 2014 and was named the 2013 District 4-5A Newcomer of the Year. During her senior campaign, she broke the Northwest H.S. singles record with 24 while hitting .467 overall and swiping 41 bases.

DerMargosian joins the 2020 North Texas signing class, bringing the class total to 10 signees. She joins the Mean Green as the first graduate transfer during DeLong's tenure.
