Men's Golf Tied For Fifth After Day 1

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - The North Texas men's golf team began play in its final tournament of the fall season on Monday, playing the opening two rounds of the Little Rock Invitational to a 2-over, as the Mean Green will enter the final round on Tuesday in a tie for fifth place with Boise State.
The Mean Green went 4-over par in the opening round before shooting a 2-under in Round 2 and were led on the day by senior Sean Wilcox, who enters Tuesday's final round at 2-under and tied for 10th after a 4-under-par 68 in Round 2. Sophomore Tucker Allen shot a second-round 69 and sits at 1-under after the opening two rounds in a tie for 13th. Sophomore Vicente Marzilio is tied for 25th at 1-over par along with sophomore Nikhil Gopal, who is competing as an individual. Marzilio led the way for the Mean Green in Round 1 with a 2-under 70, including an eagle on the Par-5 ninth hole.
"The team played well today, but I believe our best round is in front of us if we stick to the game plan tomorrow," UNT head coach Brad Stracke said. "Sean and Tucker played great in the second round. I'm proud of how the guys came back after a tough start to the afternoon round."
Round 3 will begin on Tuesday at 8 a.m., with a shotgun start, and fans can follow along live on Golfstat. The Mean Green will be paired with UTEP and Boise State.
