After a week of winter weather, the North Texas softball team is headed south for a four-game weekend slate at the Blizzard Challenge. The round robin event was created after the cancelation of the Tracy Beard College Classic, which was scheduled to be played in Frisco this weekend before the winter weather caused unplayable field conditions. The Mean Green will face off with #8 Oklahoma State, Lamar (2) and #7 Texas at Scrap Yard Sports in Conroe.
No games during the weekend will be streamed, fans can follow along with live stats at meangreenstats.com and by following North Texas softball on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook (@MeanGreenSB).
The Mean Green are facing off with Oklahoma State for the 20th time, with the Cowgirls holding a 14-5 series advantage; Lamar for the third time while holding a 2-0 series advantage and Texas for the 17th time with the Longhorns holding a 15-1 series advantage.
Oklahoma State and Texas both present the first ranked matchups for the Mean Green this season who are currently 4-4 all-time against ranked opponents during head coach Rodney DeLong's tenure. DeLong earned his 50th win as the Mean Green skipper in a 4-3 win over the #5 Oklahoma in Norman last season.
