Freshman Leads Way At Individual Tuneup Tourney

IRVING, Texas - With the full spring schedule set to begin next week in Houston, the UNT men's golf team took part in the Individual Spring Kickoff at Las Colinas Country Club on Monday and had several players show well in the first competition of the spring semester.
Freshman Vicente Marzilio, competing for the Mean Green for just the second time, tied for fifth at 1-over par on the day, which was comprised of 36 holes, after he shot a 72-71-143. It marked the second time in two collegiate starts for Marzilio that he led the team, though this event had no team scoring and was an individual tournament only featuring more than 50 players from various programs.
Senior Viktor Forslund tied for 10th at 3-over par after he shot a 72-73, and sophomore Hiroki Miya finished tied for 22nd at 5-over following his 72-75, one shot ahead of junior Robert Garcia, who posted a 6-over 72-76.
The Mean Green will begin the spring schedule on Sunday when they travel to Houston for the All-American Intercollegiate, which runs through Tuesday.
