DENTON — The North Texas tennis team won its second straight match on Tuesday with a 4-1 victory over Midwestern State at the Waranch Tennis Complex.

The Mean Green (4-9) showed resiliency on Tuesday as they pulled off the home victory after dropping the singles point.

UNT crushed it in singles. They won all four of its singles matches in straight sets. It started with junior Lucie Devier cruising to a 6-3, 6-3 win in singles to tie the match up. That was followed by sophomore Sophia Hummel having one of her best singles matches of the year with a 6-4, 6-1 victory at No. 6.

Shortly after, the Mean Green picked up wins at No. 4 and No. 5 by Kexuan Zhou and Saki Oyama who both won their matches 6-2, 6-3 in less time than all three doubles matches took.

"Proud of how our team played today," said Oyama. "We worked hard and we had good energy today. I know we are getting better and improving.Today was difficult at the start but we kept working and we got the win. We will keep getting better."
