Men's Golf Opens Up Play at Trinity Forest

DALLAS - UNT junior Vicente Marzilio shot a 1-under 71 as the men's golf team opened up play at the Trinity Forest Invitational on Sunday at Trinity Forest Golf Club, as the Mean Green finished the first day at 4-over par as a team.

Marzilio led the way for the Mean Green on the opening day of SMU's event and is tied for 18th on the individual leaderboard with two rounds left to play, and junior Cody Winkler is tied for 40th after a 1-over 73.

The Mean Green sit at 14th entering Round 2 on Monday but are in a tight pack of teams and just four shots back of seventh-place Houston.

UNT will be paired on Monday with UTA and New Mexico and will have tee times beginning at 9:25 a.m.

Fans can follow the event live on Golfstat or go support the team in person at Trinity Forest Golf Club in Dallas in what is the team's only local tournament this season.
