UNT looking to close out non-conference play with back-to-back wins for the first time this season
WASHINGTON, D.C. (Dec. 20, 2022) - Coming off a win over Howard on Sunday, North Texas returns to the court Wednesday looking to go 2-0 on the road trip to Washington D.C. in what is the final non-conference game of the season for the Mean Green.
The matchup will be the first meeting all-time between the two programs in women's basketball.
UNT will be looking for back-to-back victories for the first time this season before they kick off conference play with a road contest against Florida Atlantic on Dec. 29th.
Georgetown heads into the contest at 7-4 overall and 1-2 in Big East play thus far this season. The Hoyas have won three of their last four games heading into Wednesday's contest.
Quick Hitters
- Senior Quincy Noble leads UNT offensively with 18.7 points per game this season, a figure that ranks second in Conference USA. Noble has scored in double figures in each of the last eight games for North Texas, including a 24-point performance last time out against Howard.
- Junior forward Tommisha Lampkin has been one of the top post players in C-USA, leading the league in both blocks and rebounds per game this season.
- UNT has started a freshman at point guard in every game this season with Breanna Davis making seven starts and Ereauna Hardaway starting a pair.
- Davis comes to UNT with a family pedigree. Davis' father, Chris, was selected to the UNT Hall of Fame in 2008. Davis scored 10 points in her collegiate debut against Texas A&M-Texarkana.
- Hardaway, meanwhile, made her first career start against SMU and ranks third in C-USA with a 2.07 assist-to-turnover ratio on the year. The freshman leads the Mean Green with 3.4 assists per game.
- UNT has been one of the top teams in the country at defending the 3-point line thus far this season. Through nine games, the Mean Green are holding opponents to just 25.8 percent from beyond the arc, a mark that ranks 43rd in all of Division I.
- After playing five of their first six games at home, UNT travels on the road for seven consecutive road contests starting with the Nov. 29 matchup vs. UTA. The Mean Green will not play at home from Nov. 28-Jan. 4 before they return to the Super Pit to play WKU on Jan. 5, 2023.
- The stretch of seven straight games away from home is the longest such string since UNT played eight straight outside of the Pit from 2010-11.
