DENTON - UNT softball (16-6) will travel to Nacogdoches, Texas to play Stephen F. Austin (11-16) Tuesday evening at SFA Softball Field. The Mean Green are coming off a conference win over Florida Atlantic last weekend.
HISTORY AGAINST OPPONENT

UNT has a 16-5 record against Stephen F. Austin all-time and have won nine straight against the Ladyjacks. The last time these two programs faced off was last season in Denton when North Texas won both matchups in the North Texas Invitational tournament.

North Texas won game one in a run-rule 9-1 win in five innings after an offensive explosion to start the game. The Mean Green scored eight of their nine runs in the bottom of the first inning. Tayla Evans started with a three-run homer and Molly Rainey added a grand slam later in the inning to make it 8-1.

In the second game of the weekend between the two opponents, UNT slid by with a 2-1 victory that was dominated by defense. GiGi Wall started the game and pitched for six innings, allowing only one run before Hope Trautwein relieved her in the seventh inning to record the save. They combined for seven strikeouts and only six hits for the game.

UNT's TOPÂ PERFORMERS
Sophomore infielder Kailey Gamble hit her first career grand slam of the season against Florida Atlantic Sunday afternoon. Gamble has recorded a team-leading 12 RBI in the last 10 games and has added three home runs, 16 total bases, and seven runs. Gamble has started all 22 games this year.
Sophomore outfielder Kalei Christensen leads the team in runs (17) and RBI (23) on the season. Christensen added another two home runs to her season total against Florida Atlantic. Christensen is second in Conference USA in home runs (8) behind Charlotte outfielder Bailey Vannoy (9). In conference play, Christensen is tied for the lead in runs (4) and hits (6) while sitting on top in total bases (12) and home runs (2) for the Mean Green.
Junior LHP Ashley Peters (9-3) leads the Mean Green pitching staff in ERA (2.03), complete games (4), innings pitched (69.0), and strikeouts (67). Peters has posted a 1.20 ERA with 27 strikeouts and has allowed only four earned runs against CUSA opponents.

North Texas travels to play Charlotte in Charlotte, North Carolina for another conference series this weekend. First pitch is scheduled for 5 pm CT on Friday, March 25 while Saturday and Sunday's games will start at 12 PM CT. The series will be broadcast on C-USATV.Â
