BRYAN, Texas - The North Texas men's golf finished tied for sixth with No. 40 Louisville on Sunday at the Aggie Invitational at Traditions Golf Club, led by sophomore Vicente Marzilio's 11-over finish to tie for 15th individually.
The Mean Green were in seventh after completing the second round early Sunday after it was suspended due to darkness on Saturday night. North Texas and Louisville finished three shots back of Houston and No. 32 New Mexico, who tied for fourth.
Behind Marzilio, the Mean Green got solid showings from sophomores Tucker Allen and Diego Prone, who finished tied for 22nd and tied for 25th, respectively. Prone led the way in the final round with a 4-over 76.
"It sounds like a broken record this spring, but we played well in windy conditions," UNT head coach Brad Stracke said. "We beat some solid teams and the guys continue to improve. We look forward to the conference championship in a couple of weeks."
The Mean Green will now prepare for the Conference USA Championship, which will be played on April 25-28, in Texarkana, Texas. Last year, UNT advanced to the match-play final on the final day of competition after Marzilio won the individual championship as a freshman.
