DENTONÂ - North Texas softball has been selected for the NCAA Softball Stillwater Regional the NCAA announced on Sunday. The third-seeded Mean Green will square off with two seed Nebraska on Friday at 5 p.m. CT at Cowgirl Stadium.
Also competing in Stillwater, Okla. will be host Oklahoma State as well as four seed Fordham. OSU faces the Rams at 8:30 p.m. CT. Both games will be broadcast on ESPN+.
"That's a great draw honestly, we like the teams there," UNT head coach Rodney DeLong said. "Nebraska is a Big Ten champ. Oklahoma State is the Big 12 champ. It's definitely challenging, but I'm excited about the draw. OSU is a great team and has a great atmosphere. It'll be a great opportunity for us."
The Mean Green are making their first regional appearance in program history after winning their first conference tournament title in program history.
North Texas is 0-1 all-time against Nebraska with the only contest being a 4-2 loss in Denton in 2011. The Mean Green hold a 7-18 mark against Oklahoma State and have never played Fordham in program history. The last meeting with Oklahoma State was a 4-2 loss earlier this season at Lovelace Stadium on March 15.
