Men's Golf Climbs Up Leaderboard in Louisiana

CHOUDRANT, La. - Junior Tucker Allen shot a 1-under 71 on Monday for the Mean Green in Round 2 of the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate at Squire Creek Country Club, as the team climbed up the leaderboard with one round to play on Tuesday.
Allen had four birdies on the day to move up to a tie for 19th on the individual leaderboard at 3-under, as the Mean Green moved from 10th place entering the day to a tie for sixth with Houston after breaking par as a team for the second straight day with a 3-under 285 - tied for the fourth-best team round of the day. The Mean Green are four shots back of fifth-place host Louisiana Tech and 14 shots back of leader Southern Miss. Junior transfer Cody Winkler, making his Mean Green debut this week in Choudrant, led the team on Tuesday with a 2-under 70 to move to 2-under for the tournament to put him in a tie for 27th. He is joined at 2-under by junior Vicente Marzilio, who shot an even-par 72 on Tuesday following his 70 in Monday's opening round.
Fifth-year senior Lenny Bergsson, who is competing as an individual, shot an even-par 72 to stay at 4-under par. He is tied for 14th on the individual leaderboard.
Fans can follow the event live on Golfstat, as Tuesday's final round will see the Mean Green paired with Louisiana Tech, Houston and eighth-place UTSA.
