Women’s Tennis Heads to Waco to Compete in ITA Regional

Mean Green look to continue strong start to fall season
WACO, Texas – The UNT women's tennis program looks to continue its strong start to the 2023 fall season Thursday through Monday as they compete in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Regional hosted by Baylor University in Waco.
The Mean Green will look to build on the success of the last two ITA Regionals where they have had a doubles team advance to the semifinal in back-to-back years.
The field, consisting of 64 singles players and 56 doubles teams, is comprised of collegiate players from every Division I institution across the state of Texas.
Starting on Thursday, UNT will have Stanislava Shulzhenko (8:00 AM), Nformi Stadfany (8:00 AM), Lilly Schultz (9:30 AM), Carolina Laydner (10:00 AM) and Lou Chalard (10:00 AM) all competing in the singles qualifying in hopes of advancing to the main draw. Olivia Malm, meanwhile, will begin her competition on Friday in the main draw.
Starting Thursday afternoon, the combinations of Chalard and Laydner, Shulzhenko and Stadfany, and Schultz and Malm will begin competing in the doubles main draw. A total of six wins in required in doubles play to win the ITA championship.
