Men's Golf Tied For Lead After Day 1 in Carolina

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The UNT men's golf team opened up play at The Carolina Cup on Sunday with a 4-over-par 292 and sit tied for first with Winthrop with two days of play remaining at the Carolina Country Club.
The Mean Green were led by senior Cody Winkler, who is tied for first at 3-under after his 69, and sophomore Alvaro Roldos, who shot a 1-over 73 to enter Round 2 on Monday in a tie for ninth place. Senior Diego Prone is tied for 17th after a 2-over 74.
Prone and Roldos both recorded eagles, Prone on the par-5 18th and Roldos on the par-4 14th hole.
The Mean Green will tee off the second round beginning at 7:30 a.m., from the first hole, and will be paired with Lipscomb, James Madison and Winthrop.
