GREENVILLE, N.C. – Treyaunna Rush collected collegiate kill No. 1,000 as UNT volleyball lost 3-1 at East Carolina on Sunday at Minges Coliseum.
Rush finished the match with 13 kills on 27 attacks for a .370 hitting percentage. Before she notched 633 kills with the Mean Green, she played three seasons at Texas A&M where she totaled 369 finishes.
"This accomplishment means a lot to me," Rush said. "Having over half of my career kills at North Texas shows how much confidence my team has in me and how much work I put in over the past year and a half."
North Texas (10-9, 4-2) set a season-best mark with 15 blocks in the four-set American contest (21-25, 25-16, 24-26, 22-25) but were unable to stifle ECU (13-4, 4-2) on its home floor.
"We had great play from Anyse Smith and Trey Rush today," head coach Kristee Porter said. "But we're struggling to find a supporting cast that can contribute offensively. Our consistency has been a question all season. Hopefully we can get back on track at home."
Smith led the Mean Green with season-best marks of 15 kills with career highs of 54 attacks and six blocks. In conference play, Smith leads the team with 78 kills on 185 attacks over 26 sets.
Middle blocker Truli Levy posted a career-best mark of nine blocks and extended her season-leading total to 71 with 11 solo stops.
Setters Ceci Harness (24) and Kamryn Scroggins (21) accumulated 45 of the 50 North Texas assists for the afternoon. Harness added nine digs while Scroggins recorded seven digs and one ace.
Sh'Diamond Holly averaged .455 with 6 kills on 11 attacks and retained the conference lead in hitting percentage with a mark of .447 on the season.
