Peters Awarded Conference USA Pitcher of the Week

DALLAS – Senior LHP Ashley Peters was awarded the Conference USA Pitcher of the Week after she compiled two complete game wins, including a shutout, for the 24th-ranked UNT softball team.
She struck out nine in 12.0 innings pitched, allowing zero earned runs and five hits to lead the Mean Green over Saint Francis and Georgia Tech. Peters collected the win over the Yellow Jackets in an 85-pitch, seven-inning complete game on Sunday. She has now accumulated nine complete games in her North Texas career.
The league honor comes after Peters was named the C-USA Preseason Pitcher of the Year on Jan. 26 after a 20-win season in 2022. She won a pair of conference pitcher of the week awards on Feb. 21 and May 9 of last season.
UNT softball will compete at the Tracy Beard College Classic beginning with a doubleheader on Friday against South Dakota at 1:30 p.m. and UT Arlington at 4 p.m. at Old Celina Park in Celina, Texas. Mean Green softball fans can purchase tickets HERE.
