DENTON, Texas (Feb. 20, 2023) – Senior Quincy Noble produced 27 points and moved into eighth place on the all-time scoring list, but UNT played an overtime game for the first time this season and fell 68-67 Monday night against UTSA.

Junior Tommisha Lampkin also finished in double figures with 13 points and a team-high seven rebounds to reach 10+ points for the second consecutive game.
For UTSA, the Roadrunners got a 40-point, 11-rebound performance from the C-USA leading scorer Jordyn Jenkins to improve to 8-18 overall and 6-11 in conference action.
UNT started the game with back-to-back 3-pointers from Noble and Breanna Davis to take an early lead in the contest.
The Roadrunners fought back, hitting two consecutive shots from downtown of their own to take an 18-15 lead at the end of the first quarter.
After UTSA stretched the lead to five, the two teams went back-and-forth for the rest of the second quarter with three lead changes in the period as the Roadrunners took a narrow 28-27 lead into halftime.
Early in the third quarter, UNT got baskets on back-to-back possessions from Lampkin and Jordyn Carter to take a 38-35 lead with 6:38 left in the period.
UTSA responded immediately, however, going on a 10-2 run to take a 45-40 lead. Jenkins then hit a 3-pointer at the end of the quarter to take a 48-42 lead into the fourth quarter.
Trailing 53-44 early in the final period, the largest deficit of the game for UNT, the Mean Green clawed all the way back with an 11-2 run over six minutes of game action to tie the contest at 55 with 2:04 left to play.
UNT did a majority of their work down the stretch from the free throw line as they score nine of their final 13 points from the charity stripe.
After UTSA re-took the lead by two on a pair of free throw, Noble was fouled with 30 seconds remaining and went to the line where she sank a pair of free throws to tie the game at 57.
On UTSA's final possession of regulation, Breanna Davis was able to come up with a crucial steal to give the Mean Green the ball back with 1.4 seconds on the clock.
UNT was unable to win it in regulation, however, as Jaaucklyn Moore's 3-point look went in-and-out to send the contest to OT.
In the extra period, UTSA outscored UNT 6-0 over the first three minutes with all six points coming from Jenkins.
After Noble cut the deficit down to four with a layup and the Roadrunners push the lead back to five with a free throw, Davis again came up big as she hit a 3-pointer with seven seconds remaining to make the score 66-64.
The Roadrunners swelled the lead back to four, however, with a pair of free throws to make Carter's 3-pointer at the buzzer cut the final deficit to one, 68-67.
As a team, UTSA outrebounded UNT 46-28 and held an 18-9 advantage in second-chance points in the contest.
Quoting Coach Mitchell
"That one was really disappointing. I thought we played well defensively in the first half, holding them to 28 points. But I thought offensively we missed a lot of opportunities to score. It felt like instead of 27 points, we should've had 37. Missed a lot of easy ones around the rim that could have given us a lead. We did a great job of climbing back and getting it to overtime. But then in overtime, we didn't have enough defensive possessions where we executed the game plan. It looked easy for them, the buckets they got in OT and we had to earn ours. We needed to be more locked in defensively in overtime."
