Softball Begins Road Trip Against No. 15 Texas

AUSTIN, Texas – UNT softball are set to face No. 15 Texas at Red & Charline McCombs Field on Wednesday at 6 p.m. The game will be broadcast on Longhorn Network.

North Texas seeks to carry its momentum from the 10-1 win over Northwestern State on Sunday. Kailey Gamble matched her career high with two home runs and added four RBI. She was named No. 4 on the D1Softball First Base Power Rankings, the publication announced on Tuesday.

Game Breakdown

Wednesday's contest will be the second nationally ranked opponent UNT has played this season. The last win over a ranked opponent was on May 21, 2022, against No. 25 Nebraska at the NCAA Regionals in Stillwater, Okla.
The Mean Green trail the Longhorns with an all-time record of 1-17. North Texas defeated then-No. 15 Texas 1-0 on March 16, 2010, in Denton.
UNT has collected a home run in each of its 10 wins this season with a total of 19 to lead Conference USA. Currently, the team ranks 10th in the nation with 1.36 home runs per game.

North Texas split four games against Wichita State and Northwestern State at its home tournament on Saturday and Sunday. Ashley Peters led from the circle with a 1-0 record and a save in 9.1 innings pitched. She allowed only one earned run and added six strikeouts. Peters enters Wednesday six career strikeouts shy of seventh place in the North Texas record book.
