Christensen Honored as Conference USA Player of the Week

DALLAS – Kalei Christensen was named the Conference USA Player of the Week after leading UNT softball to an undefeated week, the league announced on Monday.
Christensen finished the week 6-for-10 with eight RBI, five runs scored, three walks and two doubles over four games played, including a three-game sweep of UTSA. She recorded 20 putouts behind the plate and guided the North Texas pitching staff to a 4-0 record over 25.0 innings with 19 strikeouts and a combined 1.40 ERA.
The award marks the first weekly C-USA honor of Christensen's career after being named a preseason all-conference selection on Jan. 26.
She is the first conference player of the week winner since Kailey Gamble took home the honor on April 18, 2022. Christensen is the third UNT player to be named for a weekly league award this season after Ashley Peters and McKenzie Wagoner won on Feb. 13 and March 13, respectively.
The Mean Green travel to No. 2 Oklahoma State for a rematch of the 2022 NCAA Stillwater Regional Finals at Cowgirl Stadium on Wednesday at 6 p.m. The game will be streamed on ESPN+.
