UNT Men Shoot Up Leaderboard With Stellar Round

DAVIS, Calif. - The UNT men's golf team rocketed up the leaderboard in Saturday's second round at the El Macero Classic with the best round of the day, shooting a 7-under-par 281 - the day's best round by two strokes.
UNT moved from 12th to seventh on the leaderboard and is just five shots back of co-leaders Loyola Marymount and No. 46 San Francisco.
The Mean Green were led by junior Tucker Allen, who fired a 4-under 68 to move to a tie for ninth at 3-under for the tournament and junior Diego Prone, who shot a 3-under 69 to bounce back from an opening-round 79 on Friday. Junior Vicente Marzilio joined Allen and Prone under par on Saturday with a 1-under 71 to move to 1-under for the tournament in a tie for 24th.
UNT will be paired for Sunday's final round with Grand Canyon, Washington State and host UC Davis, and fans can follow the event live on Golfstat.Â
