DeLong Records Milestone as Softball Defeats Charlotte

The Mean Green (26-17, 11-7) clinched the series as Mikayla Smith sparked a four-run fifth inning with a two-RBI double. She scored on a Tatum Sparks RBI single later in the frame to secure the series against the 49ers (25-17, 12-5) and moved UNT into third place in C-USA.
Sparks collected her fifth multi-hit game of the season and her fourth in the past six contests. She set a new career high with two stolen bases and extended her team-best seven game hitting streak.
Ashley Peters (W, 10-7) tallied her second consecutive win with 5 2/3 innings pitched with two strikeouts. She allowed two runs on nine hits and zero walks. Peters has accumulated eight games of more than five innings and no walks this season.
Cierra Simon finished 2-for-3 with an RBI and a stolen base. She holds a .317 batting average which ranks second on the team behind Kailey Gamble.
Lexi Cobb recorded her 17th stolen base of the season to move into third on the all-time list and tallied No. 30 for her career.
Gamble deposited her conference leading fifth sacrifice fly to score the game's opening run.
