Women’s Hoops Set to Close Out Nonconference Play Saturday

DENTON, Texas – The UNT women's basketball team will host Chicago State Saturday at 3 p.m. inside The Super Pit in the team's final tune-up prior to the start of conference play.
The Mean Green and Cougars will meet for the first time ever to close out the three-day Evan Moore Classic. Both teams will be looking to capture their first win of the tournament after losing to SMU.
North Texas (7-4) fell to the Mustangs, 74-66, on Thursday night despite putting together a major comeback in the second half. The Mean Green tied the game with 4:42 to play in the fourth quarter after trailing by as many as 19 early in the third quarter.
Tommisha Lampkin posted 21 points and 10 rebounds to lead UNT in the game. It was Lampkin's sixth double double of the season and 23rd of her career, which is the fifth most in program history.
Chicago State enters Saturday's contest following a 73-52 defeat to SMU on Friday afternoon. The Cougars are 0-14 on the season.
The matchup will be streamed on ESPN+ with Sam Kaman and Brian Burton on the call. The game can also be heard on the Varsity Network App with Zac Babb.

• To put the versatility of UNT's scoring into perspective, the Mean Green had a 20-point performance 18 times in the 2023-24 season with only three of them not coming from Tommisha Lampkin or DesiRay Kernal.
