Men's Golf Ties For Second at Border Olympics

LAREDO, Texas - Senior Tucker Allen shot a 4-under 68 in the final round of the Border Olympics on Tuesday at Laredo Country Club and finished tied for 12th at 5-under par, as the UNT men's golf team tied for second with Lipscomb and Rice at 16-under.

Over the three rounds, UNT was led by senior Cody Winkler, who tied for ninth at 6-under after he shot a 65-68-77, and junior Key Coker rounded out a trio of top-15 finishers from UNT with a T15 showing at 4-under.

Other than tournament winner Illinois State, UNT beat the two highest ranked teams in the field in No. 67 Michigan and No. 80 Houston.

The Mean Green have a quick turnaround to their next event, as they are set to head to the Lake Las Vegas Intercollegiate in Las Vegas from Feb. 26-28.
