HOUSTON - Three UNT divers will compete in the NCAA Zone D Championships beginning Monday and running through Wednesday at the University of Houston, as they aim to qualify for the NCAA Championship.
Freshman Sydney Guidara, along with seniors Saylor Hawkins and Brigid Krbec all qualified for the meet with their performances throughout the season, with Guidara and Krbec both qualifying in the 1- and 3-meter springboard events and Hawkins qualifying in all three events - the two springboards and the platform.
The competition will kick off Monday with the 1-meter, with prelims set for 11:45 a.m. and finals for 2:45 p.m., with the top 18 divers out of 53 entrants in the preliminary round advancing to the finals. Tuesday, all three will compete in the 3-meter event, with the same start times and the same number of entries, and on Wednesday, Hawkins will compete in the platform event with the top 18 out of only 28 entries advancing to the final.
The diving field for the NCAA Championships, which is set to be held in Athens, Georgia, on March 20-23, will be announced on March 17.
