CHARLOTTE, N.C. – UNT softball travels to Charlotte for its regular season finale series at Sue M. Daughtridge Stadium beginning with a doubleheader on Friday at 4 p.m. ET on ESPN+.
Due to inclement weather in the Charlotte weekend forecast, game three's date and time will be determined later.
The Mean Green (30-20, 17-7) won its seventh American Athletic Conference series of the season over Wichita State on Friday. North Texas has won eight of its last 10 games, including five wins on the road.
Charlotte (33-16, 18-6) enters the weekend tied atop the conference standings with Florida Atlantic while UNT sits one game back. All three teams are guaranteed top three seeding in the upcoming AAC Championship in Wichita, Kan. but the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds are granted a double bye to the semifinals.
"We still have a chance to finish top two depending on how we do this weekend," head coach Rodney DeLong said. "Having to beat Charlotte on the road is definitely a difficult way to go. They are a great team, and it will be a great challenge."
DeLong owns a 6-2 record against the 49ers including wins in the last two regular season series in 2022 and 2023. All time, UNT trails the series 7-8.
On Monday, right-handed pitcher Skylar Savage won the league's pitcher of the week award, her second of the season. She threw her first career no-hitter and 11th in program history at Charlotte on March 25, 2022.
