CHOUDRANT, La. - The UNT men's golf finished up play at the Argent Financial Classic on Tuesday at Squire Creek Country Club with an eighth-place finish and was led in the final round by senior Dawson Meek, who ended up as the team's top finisher at even-par for the event.
Meek finished tied for 12th after his 2-under 70, one shot up on teammate James Tureskis, whose second-round 68 helped catapult the Mean Green up the leaderboard on Monday after ending the first day in a tie for 14th place.
Freshman Blake Keen rounded out the team's top-20 finishers at 2-over par for 19th.
"From getting off to a slow start, we were able to improve each round, which is a positive," head coach Luke Calcatera said. "Dawson Meek led the team and had a great final round. There are a lot of new players this year and we believe in them and know that their best golf is in front of them."
UNT will be back in action in Dallas on Oct. 6-8, at the Trinity Forest Invitational.
