DENTON — The UNT men's basketball team hosts UTSA Saturday afternoon aiming to extend its season-high six-game winning streak.
The Mean Green (16-4, 7-1) and Roadrunners (9-11, 3-5) are scheduled to tipoff from the Super Pit at 5 p.m. CT. The game will be broadcast on the Mean Green Sports Network, presented by Learfield and on ESPN+.
Prior to Saturday's game there will be a tailgate outside of Gate A of the arena. The tailgate starts at 3 p.m. CT and will include food, music and activities for children.
North Texas defeated UTSA in San Antonio on Jan. 18, 72-57. The Mean Green were led in scoring by Atin Wright who finished with a season-high 22 points and was 5-8 from deep. UNT outrebounded the Roadrunners in the win 37-17.
The Jan. 18 win over UTSA was at the time North Texas' third straight victory. Since that win the Mean Green have won three more in a row to where they have now a season-best six-game winning streak. It is tied for the longest win streak in the Ross Hodge era.
North Texas leads the all-time series history against the Roadrunners 22-14 and have won 11 of their 16 matchups at the Super Pit.
The Mean Green have an unblemished record at home so far as they enter Saturday's contest 11-0 at the Super Pit. It's the first time they've won their first 11 home games to a season since the 2010-11 season.
After Saturday's game against UTSA the Mean Green will have their quickest turnaround in conference play — one day off — as they will travel to UAB on Monday and face a Blazers team that is 6-2 in conference and features the league's preseason player of the year, Yaxel Lendeborg.
Including Saturday, UNT has five remaining home games left in the regular season. Fans can purchase a five-game mini ticket plan to the remaining home games for one low price.
