
Softball Drops Game Two in Wichita

WICHITA, Kan. – Mean Green softball fell to Wichita State 7-2 in game two of the American Athletic Conference series Saturday at Wilkins Stadium.
UNT (19-8, 2-3) twice leveled the score, at 1-1 and 2-2, but were unable to overcome the Shockers (12-13, 1-4) five-run fifth inning. The Mean Green outhit its opponent for the 17th time this season but recorded its second loss in such performances.
Elizabeth Moffitt continued to shine as she finished 3-for-3 to extend the longest streak of consecutive at-bats with a hit in all of Division I this season to five. She collected two doubles and one single with one run scored.
Cierra Simon joined Moffitt as the only two players, for either team, to finish with multiple hits as she was 2-for-3 with one run scored.
Starter Anneca Anderson (L, 8-3) held the Shockers to three hits over four innings pitched but surrendered six walks with two strikeouts. Freshman Gracie Maloney made her second appearance of the season as she retired the side for a scoreless sixth inning.
