Softball Falls to Wichita State

WICHITA, Kan. – UNT softball dropped the American Athletic Conference series finale at Wichita State 9-3 Sunday afternoon.
North Texas (19-9, 2-4) staved off a run-rule shutout to the Shockers (13-13, 2-4) after Madison Conley connected for a two-run home run in the top of the fifth inning. Senior Emma Grahmann scored on Conley's home run for her 30th run of her career.
Riley McNemar posted a leadoff home run in the seventh inning for her third of the season and fourth of her four-year career.
Cierra Simon finished 2-for-4 with two doubles to reach 50 career extra-base hits and 270 total bases. After reaching base in all three games of the series, Simon moved into second place on the all-time UNT consecutive games reaching base leaderboard at 26 games.
Starting pitcher Skylar Savage (L, 8-4) suffered the loss while Anneca Anderson spun the final four innings and tallied four strikeouts.
