Tennis Starts Weekend With Win over ACU

The Mean Green came from behind to beat the Wildcats.
DENTON — The UNT women's tennis team defeated Abilene Christian 4-2 Friday in their final regular season away match of the season.
North Texas (10-10) played with just five players, having to forgo doubles line three and singles line six.
Up 1-0 from the start of the match, ACU (4-12), the Wildcats picked up a win at line two to clinch the doubles point.
UNT stormed back in singles play, picking up a 6-0, 6-4 win from Stanislava Shulzhenko at line two before tying the match 2-2 with a 6-3, 6-3 win at line one by Gianna Pielet.
Lilly Schultz then picked up a 6-4, 6-4 win at line five to give the Mean Green the lead and within one point of the win.
Carolina Laydner closed out the match with a 6-4, 6-3 win at line three to cap the come-from-behind win for UNT.
North Texas plays its final regular season match Saturday versus Tyler Junior College with first serve set for 11 a.m. CT.
