4/21/2025 3:18:00 PM | Men's Golf
SARASOTA, Fla. - Freshman Blake Keen fired a 5-under 67 to lead the way for the UNT men's golf team on Day 1 at the American Athletic Conference Championship and enters Tuesday's second round in a tie for the lead, while the Mean Green are in fourth place at 3-under - one of four teams to break par on Monday at the Ritz-Carlton Members Club.
Keen carded six birdies on the day with just one bogey, which he responded to with back-to-back birdies en route to his 67, and fellow freshman Alex Huang joined him under par on the tournament's opening day at 1-under following his 71.
The Mean Green are just one shot back of No. 44 Charlotte heading to Tuesday's second round and two back of second-place Memphis. That trio is chasing No. 33 South Florida, the tournament favorite, who is 9-under going to the second round.
UNT will be paired on Tuesday with FAU and UTSA and will tee off from Hole 1, beginning at 6:30 a.m., with Dylan Allen, who will replace Joe Stover for Round 2.
