DENTON, Texas – The UNT women's basketball team travels to UAB on Tuesday looking to secure its fifth road victory in its past six tries against American Conference opponents. Tip-off at Bartow Arena is slated for 6 p.m. CT.
The Mean Green (10-8, 4-2 American) aim for a return to the win column after falling to Rice, 58-54, last time out. That defeat snapped North Texas' three-game win streak, a stretch in which it was outscoring opponents by nearly 14 points per game. Tuesday marks UNT's fourth road test of conference play, most recently beating Tulane in its last game away from The Super Pit.
Megan Nestor has continued to be one of the country's most dominant inside forces, tallying 15 points and 21 rebounds against the Owls Saturday for her fifth consecutive double double. She is the only player in the American averaging a double double and ranks second in the NCAA in both total rebounds (12.4) and offensive rebounds (4.8) per game.
In the backcourt, Aysia Proctor forms a formidable duo alongside Nestor's physical presence. Proctor has torched opponents through six conference games, leading the American in points (18.8) and three-pointers (2.8) per game while shooting 53.1% from behind the arc. She also enters Tuesday as the league's only player scoring 13+ points per game and making over 40% of her three-point attempts on the season.
North Texas has defeated UAB three games in a row as part of its 13-8 advantage in the all-time series. The Blazers are in search of their first win against American competition after going winless thus far in league play. Cali Smallwood has been one of the most prolific scorers in the conference this year, averaging 13.7 points per game and ranking second in the American with 50 three-pointers made.
The game will be available for streaming on ESPN+, while Sam Kaman provides radio coverage through the Varsity Network App.
