Mean Green take game one of its three-game American Conference series over 49ers

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – UNT softball won game one of its road series over Charlotte 13-3 on Friday night at Sue M. Daughtridge Stadium.

The Mean Green (20-14, 9-1) tallied its first road win against the 49ers (18-16, 4-6) since March 26, 2022, and only the third away victory at Charlotte in program history. Additionally, the 13-run output marks the highest tally for either team in series history, besting the 49ers mark of 10 from April 1, 2017.

With an RBI double in the third, junior Madison Conley broke the UNT program record as she registered her 20th consecutive game with a hit. She is one of four Division I players with an active streak at or above 20 games, joining Charlie Montgomery from Campbell (23 games), Kaitlyn Terry from Texas Tech (21 games) and Renee Christian from Central Arkansas (21 games).

Four players finished with multi-hit games led by Elizabeth Moffitt and Bradi Harman who each recorded three knocks while Ariah Mitchell and Taylor Platt collected two apiece.

Freshman Eva Daniels posted her first career grand slam – second career home run – in the seventh inning and reached four RBI for the first time this season. Moffitt dropped three RBI and three runs scored while Riley McNemar drove in two runs and scored one.

Starting pitcher Anneca Anderson (W, 9-3) tossed six innings with two strikeouts as she allowed two runs on six hits and three walks. In the seventh, Harman made her third appearance of the season in the circle as she threw one inning with one strikeout, allowing one unearned run on one hit.

North Texas looks to take the series from Charlotte at noon CT on Saturday at Sue M. Daughtridge Stadium with streaming coverage on ESPN+.
