Softball Falls in Five at Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Mean Green softball fell 13-3 in five innings to Charlotte at Sue M. Daughtridge Stadium on Saturday which evened the American Conference series.
A day after its 13-3 win, North Texas (20-15, 9-2) suffered its second double-digit loss of the season to the 49ers (19-16, 5-6) after a 16-4 loss in five innings against then-No. 6 Oklahoma on March 3.
The Mean Green were held to five hits as freshmen Eva Daniels and Kaycee Slovak each tallied two apiece while senior Riley McNemar posted an RBI double. Slovak now holds the longest active hitting streak for UNT at eight games after Madison Conley was held hitless for the first time since Feb. 21.
Britney Lewinski (L, 10-8) was charged with the loss as she threw 1 1/3 innings before Kayleigh Smith pitched the final 2 2/3 innings and matched her season-high mark of two strikeouts.
UNT closes the series at 11 a.m. CT Sunday against Charlotte with streaming coverage on ESPN+ from Sue M. Daughtridge Stadium.
