Softball Suffers First American Conference Series Loss

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – UNT softball dropped the series finale against Charlotte 5-1 at Sue M. Daughtridge Stadium on Sunday afternoon for its first American Conference series loss of the season.
"I thought we played well today but Charlotte played better," head coach Cody White said. "We put ourselves in position to score runs but we couldn't get them home. When you play talented teams on the road, you have to convert those opportunities."
The Mean Green (20-16, 9-3) collected leadoff base runners in five of seven innings but left nine runners stranded including a bases loaded opportunity in the fifth. Despite allowing fewer base runners than the 49ers (20-16, 6-6), North Texas fell victim to three run scoring extra-base hits which included a pair of home runs.
Anneca Anderson (L, 9-4) threw four innings before Britney Lewinski retired the final six batters in a row, including back-to-back strikeouts to end the sixth inning.
Eva Daniels finished 2-for-4 with a pair of singles for her 10th multi-hit game of the season, tied with Cierra Simon (2022) for the 10th-most multi-hit games by a freshman in UNT history.
Bradi Harman drove in the lone run with an RBI single in the top of the fifth, scoring Taylor Platt after a leadoff walk. Harman finished 1-for-2 and increased her team-high batting average in conference games to .487 (19-for-39).
North Texas hosts reigning American Conference regular season champions Florida Atlantic for a three-game series at Lovelace Stadium beginning Thursday at 6 p.m. with streaming coverage on ESPN+. Fans can purchase tickets HERE.
